The Rising Tide's band members believe that a great event band puts the music first and doesn’t unnecessarily distract attention away from the event itself. Lead singer Charlotte Laird is the perfect combination of cool and confident, and she knows how to “conduct” a great live show. Never over-the-top or cheesy, she leads gracefully with charm and wit as the band’s Master of Ceremonies, with her band of classy gents backing her up all the way. At the end of the day, YOU should be the star of your event!
We were founded as a supergroup of musicians interested in raising the bar of live entertainment. We are elevating what it means to throw first-class, Charleston-style parties. With the notion of becoming Charleston’s next entertainment dynamo, each member brings a background steeped in the sounds of soul, motown, blues, jazz and pop to the show. Long time friends and collaborators, forming The Rising Tide was an obvious next step in our music careers.

Lead VocalistA formally trained vocalist and pianist, Charlotte’s timeless vocals have lead multiple bands in Charleston. Growing up on the sweet sounds of Carolina beach music, she developed an unforgettable approach to writing and performing with soul. Charlotte is a vocal powerhouse, music director, and face of The Rising Tide.
Paul
Keyboards & VocalsAn absolute wizard on piano, organ, and the electric keyboard, Paul has played in touring bands in NC and SC and brings a passion and energy to the stage. His ability to replicate the synth sounds of the 80s and soulful motown tracks glues our sound together. Watch him let loose on one of his keyboards and hold on for a wild ride.
Christian
Guitar & VocalsHolding it down on the six string, Christian has toured the US, bringing his warm guitar tones and killer solos to stages across the country. On stage, he keeps the party going with rock solid rhythm and lights up the room with shimmering solos. Christian is a master of his craft and lays down unforgettable solos at every event.
Pete
Bass Guitar & VocalsPete is our multi-talented bass player who delivers the low end that gets the grooving going. To keep his chops tight, he continues to tour with national recording artists and is known for his finger-licking country rips on guitar and rock-solid bass lines. A true sophisticate, Pete is also one of the top young Sommeliers in Charleston. He is a huge contributor to Charleston’s growing music scene. If you get the chance to see Pete perform and he lets down his beautiful locks, buckle up baby; you are in for a treat!
J. Tides
Percussion & VocalsJ. Tides is the rhythm section, and absolute groove machine. He embodies all things Charleston and wrote the book on throwing a first-class party. He has a passion for paying homage to the best party music from the past 60 years. Choosing to use vintage equipment, he captures the warmth of classic drumming techniques and the punch of modern beats with ease.
